CDW-G buys T3
It may not be the rise of the machines, but T3's NASA contract does broaden CDW Government's reach, the company's officials say.
CDW Government Inc. has beefed up its contract portfolio by acquiring the assets of T3 Corp.
T3, a small, disadvantaged business based in Fairmont, W.V., holds a contract under NASA's Scientific and Engineering Workstation Procurement (SEWP) III program. CDW-G holds numerous contracts, but SEWP III broadens the company's reach, said Jim Shanks, president of CDW-G.
SEWP III, a widely-used governmentwide acquisition contract, is focused on high-end workstations and related hardware and software. "This gives us an opportunity to strengthen ourselves on the enterprise side," Shanks said.
The Defense Department and other agencies like SEWP's product offerings and fast turnaround times, Shanks said.
Last year, CDW acquired reseller Micro Warehouse. But T3 is the company's first acquisition targeting the government market. CDW-G's existing contracts include an Electronic Commodity Store III contract from the National Institutes of Health and numerous DOD contracts.
