The House Appropriations Committee passed an amendment that could jeopardize the newly awarded prime integrator contract for the U.S. Visitor and Immigrant Status Indicator Technology program. According to Rep. Rosa DeLauro (D-Conn.), one of the amendment's sponsors, if passed, the bill would:

Specify that the government cannot contract with a shell corporation in Bermuda or its subsidiary.

Remove a provision in the law that allows companies that are already incorporated

overseas to continue to receive government contracts, and would ensure the ban applies to all corporate expatriates.

Make it harder to waive the law except in the interest of national security.
