Stratcom hires CSC services

A team led by CSC will provide tech services to Strategic Command.

An industry team led by Computer Sciences Corp. will provide information technology services in a contract worth up to $525 million for the military command that oversees missile and computer defense operations.

Air Force officials awarded a $59 million deal, the IT Capabilities Contract, to CSC yesterday. It covers one year with nine one-year options, according to a July 26 Defense Department contracts' announcement.

Strategic Command officials at Offutt Air Force Base, Neb., want the industry team led by CSC to:

Operate and maintain hardware.

Issue software licenses.

Provide local-area network and Internet access.

Support systems, 4,000 users and a mobile command center.

Administer IT help-desk and training services.

Stratcom's IT Capabilities Contract marks a significant win for CSC. Many companies sought the deal worth between $300 million and $400 million including Lockheed Martin Corp.
