Security certification group chooses new cybersecurity co-chief

State Department's CISO takes leadership position at (ISC)2.

The chief information security officer for the State Department has become the new co-chairwoman for a cybersecurity board at a prominent IT security certification organization.

Jane Scott Norris, State’s CISO, is the new co-chairwoman of the U.S. Government Advisory Board for Cybersecurity for the International Information Systems Security Certification Consortium ((ISC)2).

Norris will replace Bruce Brody, who retired as associate CIO for cybersecurity at the Energy Department, (ISC)2 officials said. She has been a board member since 2003.

Lynn McNulty, (ISC)2’s director of government affairs, is the board’s co-chairman.

The advisory board’s 20 volunteers are senior federal IT security executives and managers. They advise (ISC)2 on professional certifications and the effects of government policies and programs.

(ISC)2 appointed Norris to her new position on March 13.
