But the site also has an addictive application that uses facial-recognition software to let users upload photos and compare their faces with those in a database of more than 3,200 celebrity photos. The simple Web application scans facial features and displays user photos next to the best celebrity matches in order of similarity.
MyHeritage.com applies sophisticated algorithms to facilitate facial recognition for genealogical purposes. It recognizes faces in different stages of people’s lives and uses additional photo metadata, such as dates and places, to improve the accuracy of facial recognition.
