FCW movie review: The Guardian
The movie has received . I thought it was a tad bit long -- I think that about most movies -- but it great for the Coast Guard.The :The Coast Guard has always seemed like one of the unsung heros of federal agencies. We just don't hear about them much, which is good. So it is good to see the important work the Coast Guard does get the Hollywood treatment -- in the good sense of those words. I came out of the movie really proud of the good work that the Coast Guard -- and most feds -- do.So, over all, I thought it was worth seeing.

I don't often talk about movies here, of course, because it generally is not germain to our topic. But I saw Kevin Costner's new movie, The Guardian, this weekend, which is about U.S. Coast Guard rescue swimmers.

After losing his crew in a fatal crash, legendary Rescue Swimmer, Ben Randall (Costner), is sent to teach at "A" School, an elite training program for Coast Guard Rescue Swimmers. Wrestling with the loss of his crew members, he throws himself into teaching, turning the program upside down with his unorthodox training methods. While there, he encounters a young, cocky swim champ, Jake Fischer (Kutcher), who is driven to be the best. (Touchstone Pictures)
