* Midiabistro.com's TVNewser says that the CNN documentary series , which the network bills as examining "all branches of government and explores how much of the system may be broken beyond repair," did well.The online poll on that site asked, "Do you think the political system is broken?" Of the 17,742 votes, 91 percent of the people say yes.* WSJ's Walt Mossberg gives , including the flat pannel that I'm looking at getting.

* Stars and Stripes reports that DOD is going to be getting more press people.

In an Oct. 3 memo, Dorrance Smith, assistant secretary of defense for public affairs, writes the new effort will focus on four areas:

* New media.
* Booking Defense officials on television and radio shows.
* Providing information to surrogates, such as military analysts.
* Rapid response.

CNN's documentary series Broken Government and the Lou Dobbs Tonight Town Hall meetings "averaged a 31 percent increase in P2+ and a 51 percent increase in P25-54 in their premiere telecasts compared to regular 7p/8p program averages year-to-date," the network noted today.
