Bags, bags and more bags

Last night was the BYOB -- bring your own bag -- event hosted by outgoing OMB chief architect Richard Burk. The event was held to collect bags and stuff for schoolchildren in Uganda and benefited Arlington Academy of Hope, which is a high academic elementary school of more than 300 students in Bumwalukani, Eastern Uganda.

The response was pretty incredible. There were more than 1,200 bags last night, Burk told me this morning. "Another 300-400 over the last three weeks, so we're at about 1,600. Ed Meagher has donated a Jeep his son used to use going back and forth to (college). Craig's List respondents are forwarding lots of computers and other IT equipment.
We're now at a point that a full container may be necessary to ship the Jeep et al. Pretty exciting stuff."

We got to learn about Uganda and the school. Pretty remarkable stuff.

We'll have a photo in Monday's issue...and more info online early next week.
