Former FBI cybersecurity exec joins Mandiant

Retired FBI official Scott O'Neal joins the IT security firm to head its federal business practice.

Former FBI cybersecurity executive Scott O’Neal is becoming a director at Mandiant Corp. of Alexandria, Va., a vendor of incident response and computer forensics solutions and services, the information security company announced today.

O’Neal is a 24-year veteran agent of the FBI who most recently served as deputy assistant director of the bureau's Cyber Crime Division. He retired from the FBI in August 2009.

O’Neal will be responsible for expanding Mandiant’s federal practice, the company said in a news release.

Mandiant provides services, products and education to commercial and federal clients.
