DOT, HHS headline Challenge.gov offerings
The departments' crowdsourcing efforts are among a dozen new listings on the website, some of which offer cash prizes.
The government is looking for help in using datasets to increase transportation efficiency and developing an online model for health care providers' privacy notices.
Those two challenges -- from the Transportation and Health and Human Services departments, respectively -- were among 12 listed on Challenge.gov late last month.
"The Challenge.gov platform usually averages four to six new challenges a month, so we're excited to see the year start off with a big push to engage citizens in creative problem solving," wrote Tammi Marcoullier, Challenge.gov program manager, on the DigitalGov website.
DOT is looking for apps, visualizations and Web-based tools to address safety, transportation access and traffic. HHS seeks a model for the notices health care providers use to inform people of their rights and responsibilities regarding their medical information.
"This is your opportunity to create an online model notice of privacy practices for health care providers and health plans that is compelling, readable, and understandable by patients and is easily integrated into existing entity websites," the description states.
Some of the challenges offer cash prizes.
Challenge.gov won the Innovations in American Government Award earlier this year from the Ash Center for Democratic Governance and Innovation at Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government.
