Defense Health Agency looks to civilian side for health IT contracts
A January industry day will detail how the Defense Health Agency will tap civilian side contract vehicles to satisfy health IT requirements.
WHAT: The Defense Health Agency announced a Jan. 20, 2016, industry day, to detail new a health IT purchasing partnership with the General Services Administration.
WHY: DHA is partnering with GSA to acquire health IT in an effort to standardize outcomes and save money, according to DHA’s special notice.
DHA found that many of the contractors on its expired $8 billion medical IT contract vehicle were also on GSA's suite of contract vehicles, including the Alliant government wide acquisition contract. DHA plans to buy health IT through task orders against the following GSA contracts: Alliant, Alliant SB, 8(a) Stars II, Veterans Technology Services (VETS), and Schedule 70.
DHA is planning a health IT special item number within Schedule 70 to speed the procurement process.
The agencies plan to host two industry day sessions at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Jan. 20, both at GSA headquarters at 1800 F Street NW, in Washington, DC. The sessions will cover DHA’s projected health IT requirements and the details of the new procurement partnership.
Interested vendors must pre-register by Jan. 5, 2016.
