WHAT: A request for information on ID verification
WHY: The innovation group 18F is working on a plan to authenticate the identities of users of government services online. It's part of a long-held government goal to expand and secure citizen services via user accounts and logins.
Officials are now looking to industry for examples of how to validate and verify state-issued IDs such as driver's licenses.
Specifically, 18F is seeking information on how data is obtained and verified, how quickly verifications can be processed, whether biometric markers can be read and verified, and how services are priced.
