For too long, federal agencies have avoided tackling their data stores, even while forging ahead with IT modernization and digital transformation. Only a handful of federal agencies even have chief data officers. But data is the heart that gives life to IT and digital processes, and most important, to citizen engagement and the user experience. As agencies bring on technologies such as machine learning and artificial intelligence, the return on investment will only be as good as the data. In this session, DoD’s first chief data officer will discuss the centralized common repository being built and other priorities for creating a robust data management system across the DoD enterprise.
