Dr. Michael Valivullah

Dr. Michael Valivullah is currently serving as the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at the US Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Research, Education and Economic Resources mission area comprising of Agricultural Research Service (ARS), National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) and National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA).
Before this assignment he served as the CTO, Director of Information Technology (IT) and the Chief Information Officer (CIO) at NASS. He was the CIO at the Directorate of Science and Technology (S and T) in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). He also served the Associate CIO, Chief of Programs and Planning and Chief Enterprise Architect at the U.S. Capitol Police, U.S. Senate. He also acted as an Executive Director of Systems Engineering at the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).
Dr. Valivullah has spent over seventeen years in the public sector and over sixteen years in the private industry and non-profits. He worked as a consultant in the private sector at EDS (currently HP), Lockheed Martin, FINRA (NASDAQ), US Airways, US FoodService, U.S. Chamber of Commerce, FreddieMac, Sabre, SES, and MCI Telecom. He was a faculty member at Georgetown University (DC) and Virginia Tech (VA).
Dr. Valivullah has obtained several professional certifications and training including: PMP, CISSP, FAC P/PM Level 3, Federal CIO, Enterprise Architect, SoA-Architect, Web & Data Strategist, Big Data & Analytics, Data Quality, ITIL and Data Warehousing. He has been invited to speak on technology topics and trends in the US and abroad. He has also been recognized by several US and international organizations for his public service, accomplishments and IT leadership.
