To ensure the continued growth of cloud computing at federal agencies, government and industry leaders must work together to develop frameworks that support seamless implementation of federated community cloud environments. A good place to start is work undertaken by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) to develop a reference architecture for federated clouds. The model provides a foundation for a cloud ecosystem and an economy amongst cloud providers that is transparent to users and applications. This session will also cover:

  • dynamic infrastructures that can support evolving business models
  • the USG Cloud Computing Standards and Technology Roadmap
  • Standards for Intercloud Interoperability and Federation (SIIF)
  • high priority requirements for the adoption of cloud
