Dr. Laura Kroupa is the Chief Medical Officer for the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Office of Electronic Health Record Modernization (OEHRM). Since joining the program in November 2017, Dr. Kroupa has served as both the Deputy Chief Medical Information Officer and Chief Medical Information Officer for OEHRM. Her career at VA spans three decades, where she has served as a Staff Physician, Associate Chief of Staff for Primary Care, Associate Chief of Staff for Education, and Acting Associate Chief of Staff for Research and Acting Chief of Staff at the St. Louis VA. She is dedicated to improving the lives of Veterans and their families by advancing medical education and research.

Dr. Kroupa also serves as an Associate Professor of Medicine at St. Louis University and as a faculty moderator for the VA Health Informatics 10 x 10 course for the Leadership and Change Management Module. She has acted as a site investigator for numerous research studies and co-authored several research articles published in scholarly periodicals. Dr. Kroupa earned her medical degree from St. Louis University School of Medicine and is board certified in internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine. She achieved board certification in clinical informatics in 2014 and holds a Certificate of Healthcare Analytics from the University of Nebraska.
