Dawayne Pretlor is the Cloud Architect and Systems Engineering Manager for the OCIO’s Information Technology and Communication Division at NASA Headquarters. He also works, in partnership, with the NASA OCIO’s Computing Services Program Office and the Enterprise Managed Cloud Computing Office. Since 2017, he has managed and served as the primary architect for the NASA Headquarters Managed Cloud Environment and has been instrumental in driving cloud adoption across the agency as a whole. Dawayne is primarily responsible for developing cloud adoption strategies and architecture for NASA HQ. These strategies include, but are not limited to, Disaster Recovery, Application Migration, and long term storage.

Dawayne holds cloud certifications on both the Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure platforms. The knowledge of both environments allows him to provide cloud architecture and strategy guidance to other NASA centers to develop or enhance their cloud adoption strategies.

Before becoming the Cloud Architect for NASA HQ, Dawayne served as the Chief Solutions Architect for the IT Services contract supporting NASA Headquarters. In this contractor supporting role, he was instrumental in the initial cloud adoption effort for NASA HQ.

With over 20 years of IT experience, Dawayne came to the government as a contractor before becoming a civil servant. His experience includes both Software and Systems Engineering for organizations in the non-profit, education, public and private sectors. He is a Solutions Architect that is highly skilled in enterprise cloud architectures, database development, data modeling, data management, object-oriented analysis/design and web application development.
