Principal Insider Threat Researcher


Julie Ard is the principal insider threat researcher at Noblis helping government clients protect themselves from insider threats and serving as the Noblis principal investigator for internal research projects. She has over 15 years of experience in insider threat and cybersecurity research, applied research and operations at the IRS, DARPA, IARPA, NSA Research Directorate, DIA, DHS, Sandia National Labs and several other agencies in DOD.

Prior to joining Nobis, Ard served as the director of insider threat operations at an insider threat detection software startup. She is active in the research community, serving on peer review panels and is an author of several peer-reviewed publications. She is also involved in insider threat industry organizations, having served as an instructor for an insider threat program management course and as an active member of the Intelligence and National Security Alliance (INSA) Insider Threat subcommittee where she is a contributing author on several of INSA's thought leadership publications. Ard's volunteer work includes mentoring young people of all ages in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), especially girls and young women, and speaking at schools on careers in STEM.

She earned a bachelor’s degree in Applied Mathematics from Texas A&M University and a master’s degree in Computer Science from the University of California, Davis. She has a CISSP certification.
