Laura Besong

Laura Besong is the Departmental Records and Information Management Officer for the U.S. Department of Labor. She previously served as the Agency Records Officer for the U.S. Merit Systems Protection Board, and began her Federal career at the U.S. Department of Education in their Records and Document Management Division. Laura brings broad, multi-faceted experience directing large-scale records management audits, overseeing enterprise-wide electronic management system acquisitions, facilitating briefings for political appointees and senior officials, and developing and issuing records management policies and directives.

Prior to joining the Federal government, Laura worked for the University of Maryland, College Park in their Leadership Gifts Office. Before relocating the Washington D.C. metropolitan area, Laura worked in the hospitality industry where she coordinated weddings and events.

Laura holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in arts and performance from Arizona State University, a Master of Public Administration degree from the University of Baltimore, a Certificate of Federal Records Management Training from the National Archives and Records Administration, and is co-chair of the Federal Records Officer Network.
