Keynote Opening Remarks by Alan Lorenz
Business Development Director
Backed by past small business ownership and by over 35 plus years of Motorola Solutions experience, Mr. Lorenz has led and managed several distribution, services, marketing, integrator, and channel business teams, as well as customer technology solutions. Mr. Lorenz has recently joined the Wildflower International team in Santa Fe, New Mexico to support Department of Defense Customers and support Wildflower CEO’s Strategic Initiatives. Mr. Lorenz has market expertise in Federal Departments of Defense, Homeland Security, Energy, and Interior, as well as Local and State Public Safety, Telecommunications, Information Technology, Utilities, and Manufacturing.
Mr. Lorenz led separate successful cross functional teams developing and contracting newly deployed wide area wireless system management shared solutions for Department of Defense, Homeland Security, and Interior agencies. Mr. Lorenz also led a cross-functional design team that developed mobile fleet management for a nationwide energy company in the midst of merger and cost cutting. Results included integration of five different business units’ communications to meet customer costs and communications requirements.
Within business services market, Mr. Lorenz worked as a team member on market analysis and cost containment process for a multi-million dollar Motorola service business. After the analysis phase, Mr. Lorenz was then responsible for the wireless service delivery business territory including direct employees at seven locations and responsibility for thirty-five sub-contractors in four states. New business strategies and consolidation led to a 20% reduction in cost and 30 % increase in profits and productivity.
Marketing and distribution business responsibilities; Mr. Lorenz led a team that consolidated three territories and distributed products and services in a new multi-million-dollar business area. He managed all direct employees, forty-five dealers/sub-contractors and seven service centers. Mr. Lorenz also worked as a team member in core process redesign for Motorola’s service businesses. Mr. Lorenz led external customer research and analysis for domestic utility markets and restructuring of wireless management for several major utilities. The process included value analysis, baseline assessments, and cost analysis.
Mr. Lorenz has four areas of personal focus and passion. His rewards and enjoyment of working for ethical and customer focused businesses, which is a key reason for joining the Wildflower team after completing a successful career at Motorola Solutions. His “love of the outdoors” including National Parks; where he has hiked Rim to Rim in the Grand Canyon in one day among his many National Park’s experiences. His rewards and enjoyment of working with charities and non-profits like; The Border Patrol Foundation, Wounded Warrior Events, The United Methodist Church Charities, Local Education Issues and Bonds, Parks and Recreation Development, and Coaching Youth Sports. And his family; including his wife, 3 children and spouses, one grandchild, and extended family.
Mr. Lorenz is a distinguished Graduate of South Dakota State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and Economics; where he was Student Association Vice President and played Division II basketball. He continued with post graduate studies in Communications there, also at the University of Mary in business and at Motorola University with Leadership Curriculum, Business Curriculum, Six Sigma Green Belt Training, and Miller Heiman Strategic and Conceptual Sales.
