Brian Done

Mr. Done has over fifteen years of diverse experience supporting the U.S. Government (USG), since moving to the Washington, DC area in 1997. He enjoys being a Trusted Advisor and Coordinator for key Senior Executives who have significant responsibility for the United States, while researching highly complex and multi-dimensional topic areas and leading sensitive special projects on their behalf to ensure outcomes for the nation.

Mr. Done has held positions in the U.S. Army; technical and program director positions with a USG contractor supporting many USG clients across the Federal Civilian USG, Intelligence Community, Department of Defense, State and Local Government, as well as the U.S. Critical Infrastructure; and key positions as a USG Federal Civilian employee. He is honored to learn from dedicated government and private sector personnel daily.

Mr. Done is currently the DHS/CS&C Deputy Chief Technology Officer (CTO). He is a trusted advisor and coordinator across government, including with direct private sector coordination on sensitive subjects. Although, technology is a current key focus – especially in positively impacting the cyber ecosystem as a whole (DHS Goal 4.4) – Mr. Done focuses on constant business and mission improvements across the interagency in support of the whole of government concept, strategy, and execution. He spends time, including through donated hours, to ensure Research & Development (R&D) capabilities are ready to support our current and future national needs, through direct coordination with DHS/S&T, IARPA, DARPA, IQT, etc.

Mr. Done was a Comprehensive National Cybersecurity Initiative (CNCI) Manager from 2009-2016, before becoming the CS&C Deputy CTO. He was the CS&C Chief Architect from 2009-2017, helping others attain strategic outcomes effectively and efficiently, through analysis of business needs and alternative options through a holistic approach. Mr. Done was a member of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Communications, Security, Reliability and Interoperability Council (CSRIC), which allows for a significant opportunity to support DHS and national interests. Concurrent with other CS&C duties, he was the acting US-CERT Technical Director starting in 2009 to help analyst’s gain the capabilities needed to deal with highly sophisticated threat actors.

Mr. Done is married to Mrs. April Done, who is a first grade teacher. They enjoy having work life diversity. Both are strongly committed to further improving the United States.
