Chief Information Security Officer, Office of Information Security

Chris Wlaschin oversees cybersecurity for the Department of Health and Human Services, as well as the Office of Information Security (OIS) in the Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO), and is the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO). As the Executive Director he is responsible for leading the HHS team in innovation for cybersecurity, as well as building collaboration and sharing best practices across both private and public sectors for information security.
Before joining the HHS team, Chris served as the Senior Director for Information Security and Infrastructure for NRC Health, as well as the CISO for the University of Nebraska system. Prior to that, Chris was the Associate Deputy Assistant Secretary for Security Operations, Information Security for the Department of Veterans Affairs. Chris also served as Chief Information Officer (CIO) for the US Navy’s Military Sealift Command.
Chris also served with distinction in the US Navy for over 28 years in a variety of leadership roles.
