Senate Nixes Proposal to Cut NTIA Community Grants Funding

The U.S. Senate last week passed an amendment restoring about $10 million in operating funds for the National Telecommunications and Information Agency's Telecommunications and Information Infrastructure AssistanceProgram (TIIAP). Due in part to a letter signed by more than 60 associations, 19 senators agreed to an amendment to the Commerce, Justice and State appropriations bill guaranteeing that TIIAP would be funded at an amount comparable with last year's level of $21.5 million.
