Training center gets new network

Federal Law Enforcement Training Center

The Federal Law Enforcement Training Center has installed a converged voice and data network that will enable officials to route telephone calls through its secure data network.

DCM Communications, of Columbia, Md., installed the system, and DCM partner Avaya Inc. provided networking hardware for the project.

The companies announced the project Feb. 5, declining to reveal financial details. FLETC bought the network through a blanket purchase agreement with Avaya.

FLETC, in Cheltenham, Md., is a bureau of the Treasury Department. Seventy-six agencies use the bureau's training facilities, including the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Secret Service and the Transportation Security Administration.

The new network supports 110 users and will be expanded to 500, according to the announcement.
