SI lands $800M Air Force deal

The company will provide communications equipment and services.

The Air Force today awarded an $800 million contract to SI International Inc. to provide communications equipment and services in support of four military commands.

The company's division in Colorado Springs, Colo., will provide services for engineering, furnishing, and testing equipment and materiel. It will also provide operations and maintenance for command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance systems for Air Force Space Command, U.S. Strategic and Northern Commands and North American Aerospace Defense Command.

SI so far has received $1.5 million as part of the deal and will complete the work by September 2007, according to a statement.

The Air Force's 21st Space Wing solicited vendors in August 2003. It completed negotiations in February, the statement reads.
