State uses netForensic

State Department officials hope to gain a better understanding of the cyberthreats and security vulnerabilities that agency officials face globally by implementing netForensic Inc.'s security information management platform.

The nFX security information management platform will be used in State's Global Situational Awareness Fusion Environment (G-SAFE) program, which is designed to correlate real-time security event data from security devices worldwide. G-SAFE then presents threat and vulnerability information in real time to analysts, law enforcement officials and department managers. The nFX platform will monitor and mange the data generated from approximately 1,500 security devices globally across State's enterprise, agency officials said.

"We will leverage this platform to ensure that we are continuously monitoring the security posture of our information technology resources, while measuring the effectiveness of our compliance with security policy and Federal regulations," said Mary Sue Holland, director of State's Office of Computer Security, Diplomatic Security Service.

Security information management platforms such as nFX gather high volumes of security information and interpret the data's meaning and importance, allowing security operations personnel to take appropriate action.
