CSC gets EDNet work

Education officials awarded a $176 million contract to CSC for managing information technology services on the department's data network.

The Education Department has awarded a $176 million contract to Computer Sciences Corp. for managing information technology services on EDNet, the department’s data network.

General Services Administration officials, who announced the award today, described it as a hybrid, with fixed-price, time-and-materials and indefinite-delivery features rolled into one contract.

Department officials developed the contract with performance standards and incentives for the winning bidder to hold the contract for up to 10 years. CSC will replace Science Applications International Corp., which has been managing EDNet.
