Obama gives WhiteHouse.gov an interactive spin
Today the Obama administration relaunched the White House Web site with interactive features such as a blog, e-mail updates and a feedback form.
The Obama administration relaunched the White House Web site today, adding a blog and several new features to make it more interactive.
At 12:01 p.m., Macon Phillips, director of new media for the White House, posted the first entry for the new blog at www.whitehouse.gov. Visitors can sign up for an RSS feed and e-mail updates and can provide feedback by filling out a form on the Web site.
Administration officials also plan to post non-emergency legislation online for five days so the public can review and comment before the president signs it.
The site is intended to deepen the administration’s engagement with the American people, and it will play a major role in delivering on Obama’s promise of transparency in government, Phillips wrote in the blog.
The Web site includes factual information about the U.S. government, the White House and the Obama administration. It also features a rundown of Obama’s policy statements on the economy, energy, health, homeland security, technology and other issues.
