Scientific American has a special online package about the 20th anniversary of the World Wide Web.

They date its birth to March 13, when Tim Berners-Lee published a proposal titled "Information Management: A Proposal." That paper, according to SciAm, became "the blueprint for the World Wide Web.

Their report includes a profile of Berners-Lee, some facts about the early days of the Web, a look back at why the Web emerged and the reprint of a SciAm article from 10 years ago about the future of computing.
