Ressler, an information technology specialist at Immigration and Customs Enforcement, created and launched his own networking Web site, GovLoop.com, a kind of Facebook for government workers.

The site provides forums, blogs, a job board and interest groups to connect members and help them share their experiences. GovLoop.com is now a leading resource for government employees from all levels of government, good government advocates, contractors and students. Ressler started GovLoop on his own initiative and maintains it on his own time. It has garnered more than 7,000 registered members since it started in May 2008.

“GovLoop, more and more each day, is becoming the place where government innovators — from line staff to senior officials — go to discuss the future of government leadership, public relations, customer service and technology,” said Adriel Hampton, an investigator at the San Francisco city attorney’s office.
