Anyone with a Web browser and Internet connection can now track data related to the Deepwater Horizon/BP oil spill in real time. The GeoPlatform Web site has an interactive map created by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration that includes regularly updated geospatial data from several federal and state agencies on the oil spill's trajectory, closed fishery areas, the impact on wildlife and Gulf resources, daily position of research ships, and affected shorelines. The data comes from NOAA, the Coast Guard, the Environmental Protection Agency, the Fish and Wildlife Service, the U.S. Geological Survey, the Homeland Security Department, NASA and several states.
