NASA makes 3G iPhone available to employees
NASA has added 3G iPhones to its Outsourcing Desktop Initiative list that makes the devices available to employees.
NASA is making Apple's iPhone 3G available to agency employees through its Outsourcing Desktop Initiative program, according to a report by Federal News Radio. The report says NASA workers are among the first federal employees who can choose to receive the iPhone from their agency.
NASA also is testing the iPhone 4G and the Apple iPad tablet, as well as the Google Android and Motorola Droid Version 2 smart phones, the article said.

Federal News Radio spoke to Tony Facca, information technology project manager for NASA’s emergency technology and desktop standards division, for the story.
NASA recently did an analysis of all devices on its network and found more than 9,000 non-BlackBerry mobile devices, Facca said in the article. That suggests that employees are using their personal devices during the workday, he added.
