Indian Health Service launches online best practices database
The Indian Health Service wants the public to add content to its new online inventory of best practices and services.
The Indian Health Service (IHS) has started a new online database of best practices and resources for tribal health and wants community members to submit ideas to improve the system.
The IHS published an announcement on its website recently about the Online Search, Consultation, and Reporting System (OSCAR). To date, the system has collected 327 records. The goal is to create an online inventory of best practices, promising practices, local case studies, resources and policies concerning health care for Native American communities, the agency said.

The database can be accessed from the health service’s website. OSCAR can be searched by geographic area, by health topic, or by general or lifestyle topics such as social media, sports activities, pets, domestic violence and scientific research.
Many of the listings currently in OSCAR are names and locations of charitable organizations offering scholarship, research assistance and other benefits, the service said.
