When charged with shifting key technology to a private cloud and meeting objectives for reducing the number of federal data centers, Maria Levesque saw an opportunity to streamline complex communications systems.

She designed and deployed a wide-area network optimization project to 50 locations worldwide, and she did it in a record 120 days. The project yielded major efficiencies without costly bandwidth upgrades and enabled faster fielding of data-heavy, multimedia IT applications to remote locations that previously would have required expensive, complicated infrastructure improvements.

“Maria accomplished something believed to be undoable given the constraints, timelines and organizational adversity,” said Michael Mestrovich, DIA’s senior technology officer for innovation and CIO. “Maria’s project directly impacts warfighters, analysts and other mission partners at remote sites, including Iraq and Afghanistan.”
