GSA rolls out IT acquisition learning portal

The General Services Administration launched an on-demand training platform federal IT project managers can use to learn about a range of technologies and how to use its many contracting vehicles to buy it effectively.

The IT Acquisition University (ITAU) learning portal, said GSA in a July 30 statement, gives federal IT and acquisition professionals access on-demand access to acquisition content on some of the most important technologies driving the government's IT.

Hosted on GSA's Acquisition Gateway, the university is aimed at providing project managers a source of information on emerging IT technologies and training on topics such as cybersecurity, cloud migration, federal IT modernization, as well as how to use its contracts to implement enabling technologies.

The ITAU is one of the 15 options under the Acquisition Gateway's information technology "hallway."

"The federal IT market is evolving at unprecedented speed," said Laura Stanton, acting assistant commissioner at GSA's Information Technology Category in the statement.

"New innovations and emerging technology are introduced and deployed rapidly, and it can be difficult for IT acquisition professionals to keep pace with the latest innovations, maintain various certifications and CLP [Continuous Learning Points] requirements, while also focusing on day-to-day work," she said.

Many of the training courses offer CLP to federal IT employees require to keep up professional certifications.
