Serves: 90 city buildings, including police and fire, and 21 nongovernment

buildings, including schools, colleges, libraries and community centers.

Funded by: Infrastructure built for free by cable company TCI as part

of a service agreement. The company also chipped in more than $1 million

for electronics.

Status: Police and fire stations are scheduled to go online in July

2001.

Etc.: Plans include adding redundant loops within the system and expanding

the network to include hospitals and the Barrio Santa Rosa Rosa Public Housing

Neighborhood Center.
