Duane Andrews moves to QinetiQ

Andrews was chief operating officer at Science Applications International Corporation before QinetiQ hired him as CEO of North American operations.

Duane Andrews has been named chief executive officer of QinetiQ’s North American operations. The international defense and security technology company was created in July 2001 from the British government’s Defence Evaluation and Research Agency.

Andrews replaces Phil Odeen, who is stepping down as CEO of QinetiQ North America, according to a company statement.

Andrews was chief operating officer at Science Applications International Corporation, the $7.8 billion Fortune 500 research and engineering company. Before joining SAIC in 1993, he was assistant secretary of Defense for command, control, communications and intelligence.

Andrews has served on various U.S. national security advisory groups and was on the staff of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence.

He was the recipient of the Defense Department’s Medal for Distinguished Public Service, the National Intelligence Distinguished Service Medal and the Bronze Star. In 1999, he received the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association’s David Sarnoff Award.

Graham Love, QinetiQ’s chief executive, said in a statement that Andrews’ extensive experience in developing business with the U.S. Government “will be invaluable as he implements QinetiQ’s growth strategy, working with our existing U.S. companies and exploring further acquisitions potential.”

Andrews graduated from the University of Florida and has a master’s degree in management and supervision from Central Michigan University.
