Expert Voices: Zero Trust Security with Randy Wood

Protecting a network and its assets was for years a simple a matter of building a robust perimeter defense. The network wall protected assets ensconced behind it and kept out bad guys beyond the perimeter. It was a good enough system – until it wasn’t. Modern IT architecture – cloud, mobility, application-driven computing – have obliterated boundaries that made perimeter solutions viable. Location is no longer an attribute of trust. Evolving security challenges demand that systems validate every user, device and application, a philosophical shift generally known as zero trust architecture, says Randy Wood, Akamai Technology’s vice president of US public sector sales. In this podcast, Randy will discuss the new model, how to implementation it, cultural resistance and why 2019 is shaping up as the year of zero trust.
