Gen. John Gordon was sworn in last week as the Energy Department's first undersecretary for nuclear security and administrator of the new National Nuclear Security Administration.

Gen. John Gordon was sworn in last week as the Energy Department's first undersecretary for nuclear security and administrator of the new National Nuclear Security Administration.

Energy Secretary Bill Richardson has asked Gordon to conduct a full review at the department's Los Alamos, Lawrence Livermore and Sandia national laboratories.

Gordon has served as the second-ranking official in the intelligence community as well as working as a physicist at Sandia National Lab.

The NNSA began operations March 1 and has as its mission to carry out the national security responsibilities of DOE.

John "Jack" Carson, former chief financial officer for the Agriculture Department, has accepted a position as vice president of federal business development SAP Public Sector and Education Inc., a leading provider of inter-enterprise software solutions for the public sector, the company announced last week.

Carson has extensive experience in federal financial systems as part of the Joint Financial Management Improvement Program steering committee and also as a consultant to federal agencies.
