The Education Department today launched a redesigned Web site with easier information access and user personalization. The site, at , has been reorganized into five categories dealing with grants and contracts, financial aid, education resources, research and statistics, and policy. There are customizable pages for teachers, principals, parents, students and technical assistance providers. The search function has been improved, too, as “part of what will be an ongoing effort to make the information and resources of the department available and understandable to policymakers, government leaders, educators, parents and students alike,” Secretary Rod Paige said. The site has consistently ranked among the 10 most-visited government sites, averaging more than a million visitors and 12 million page views per month, Paige said. The redesign grew out of user feedback from a survey. A second phase of redesign, to begin shortly, will improve the structure and presentation of the resources.
