Energy launches climatevision.gov
It will allow participating members of the Climate VISION program to track their progress in meeting greenhouse initiatives.
The Energy Department launched an online resource that will allow participating members of the Climate VISION program track their progress in meeting greenhouse gas reduction initiatives.
Climate VISION -- Voluntary Innovative Sector Initiatives: Opportunities Now -- is a program designed to contribute to the Bush administration's goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions intensity throughout American industry by 18 percent over the next 10 years.
The Web site includes information about greenhouse gas reduction plans, and information on other projects, such as DOE's Climate Change Technology Program.
Other federal agencies involved with the Climate VISION initiative include the Environmental Protection Agency and the Departments of Agriculture, Interior and Transportation.
Private businesses are also involved in Climate VISION, and associations representing 12 industry sectors are partners within the program. These partners represent a wide range of industry, including oil and gas, electricity generation, mining, railroads and automobile manufacturing.
