Reclamation drops 'acting' from CIO's title

Randy Feuerstein is now the Bureau of Reclamation's CIO ? period.

The Interior Department's Bureau of Reclamation removed the interim tag from Randy Feuerstein's title in naming him the agency's chief information officer.

The bureau's commissioner, John Keys III, announced that Feuerstein, who has been acting CIO since February, would lead the bureau's information technology efforts on a permanent basis.

"Randy brings extensive experience to this position in [IT] management to help Reclamation carry out its mission," Keys said. "His planning and program management background in [IT] and his knowledge of Reclamation are a great asset."

Prior to becoming acting CIO, Feuerstein was Reclamation's deputy CIO for policy, security and planning from December 2001 to January. He has been manager for the Planning and Program Management Group of the Information Resources Division.

The bureau has operations and facilities in 17 western states. It is the nation's largest wholesale water supplier and second largest producer of hydroelectric power.
