Aeon to update DFAS system
The company will get almost $15 million to install a relational database to replace a 1960s-era financial and contracts administration system for the Defense Finance and Accounting Service.

The Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS) announced late last week a contract for a California-based systems integrator to replace the agency's 1960s-era integrated financial and contract administration system.
Aeon Group LLC of Los Angeles was awarded a nearly $15 million contract to migrate the Mechanization of Contract Administrative Services (MOCAS) system to a government-furnished relational database management system.
MOCAS is an automated integrated financial and contract administration system developed in the late 1960s and enhanced since then to maintain regulatory compliance. The system has more than 8,600 authorized end users from DFAS, the Defense Contract Management Agency and other Defense Department components. MOCAS is used to support Commercial Pay to complete 80 percent of the department's contract payments.
Work will be performed at the DFAS center in Columbus, Ohio, and is expected to be completed in September 2005.
