Croom tapped to lead DISA
The Air Force's top information systems and command and control general has been nominated to head the Defense Information Systems Agency.
Maj. Gen. Charles Croom Jr. has been nominated as the new director of the Defense Information Systems Agency, an Air Force spokeswoman said.
Croom has been the Air Force's director of command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance infrastructure and deputy chief of staff for warfighting integration since August 2000. Assuming his DISA nomination is confirmed, he would replace Air Force Lt. Gen. Harry Raduege, slated to retire from the military this fall, the Air Force spokeswoman added. Depending on congressional confirmation and Raduege's retirement date, Croom could be leading DISA as early as this summer.
Before starting his tour in the Air Force's top command and control job, Croom was vice director for command, control, communications and computer systems for the Joint Staff from June 2002 to August 2002. Prior to that, Croom was director of command, control and communications systems, headquarters U.S. European Command.
