Carroll appointed as CIO for Ohio
Gov. Bob Taft said Carroll was ideally suited to set strategic directions for information technology operations in the state.

Ohio Gov. Bob Taft appointed Mary Carroll, the state’s acting chief information officer and director of information technology since February, to the Cabinet-level post earlier this week.
Carroll's “extensive experience and commitment to public service makes her ideally suited to set the strategic direction for the state’s information technology operations,” Taft said in a prepared statement.
Carroll’s office provides oversight, guidance, coordination and supervision of IT implementations across all state agencies. Before her current appointment, she had been deputy state CIO for investment and governance. In that capacity, she was responsible for state IT oversight, policy, planning, architecture and procurement. She was also led a multiagency CIO advisory council.
Earlier in her career, Carroll was deputy director for the Department of Administrative Services’ IT governance division. And between 1975 and 2000, she held various IT positions in the Ohio Bureau of Employment Services, including a stint as that agency’s CIO.
