FDA's acting CIO. Minnesota's first CIO. Tiemann joins Booz Allen. Ady elected at IAC. Neal Fox consults.

Fred Farmer was named acting chief information officer at the Food and Drug Administration following the departure of CIO Jim Rinaldi to the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, a federally funded research and development facility in California. The California Institute of Technology manages the lab for NASA.

Gopal Khanna, former CIO and chief financial officer at the U.S. Peace Corps, was named Minnesota's first CIO.

Michael Tiemann, former manager of the enterprise architecture practice at AT&T Government Solutions, has joined Booz Allen Hamilton's Federal Information Technology Strategy, Innovation and Management Service Areas.

Howard Ady of BearingPoint was elected vice chairman for shared interest groups at the Industry Advisory Council.

Neal Fox, who retired from the General Services Administration in July, is opening a consulting service under his own name. He will be based in Northern Virginia and will provide federal procurement advice to businesses.
