NSA outsources hiring support
SI International will supply HR employees under a contract with a potential value of $6.9 million.
The National Security Agency is turning to the private sector to handle some human resources functions involved in recruiting new employees. The agency has awarded SI International a human resources outsourcing contract with a potential value of $6.9 million.
Under the five-year contract announced today, SI will provide employees to staff NSA’s Welcome Center and communicate with job applicants. SI employees will perform those HR support services at the company’s Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility and at NSA’s Fort Meade, Md., site.
NSA faces stiff competition from the private sector in hiring highly trained specialists, especially mathematicians.
The outsourced functions will include processing candidate resumes and scheduling tests and job interviews, said Alan Hill, SI’s vice president of corporate communications. SI performs similar functions for the Homeland Security Department, the State Department’s National Visa Center and the Army’s Aberdeen Proving Ground, Hill said.
SI has existing contracts with NSA in which it provides acquisition and program management services and financial management, training and systems engineering support.
