DHS' Broderick resigns
The director of the Operations Directorate wants to spend more time with his family, DHS Secretary Michael Chertoff said.
The director of the Homeland Security Department’s new Operations Directorate announced today that he is resigning, effective March 31, DHS Secretary Michael Chertoff said today.
Matthew Broderick became the directorate’s first chief in August 2005 after Chertoff initiated a major reorganization of the department. Broderick also created the Homeland Security Operations Center, the nerve center that coordinates domestic responses to terrorist attacks.
A general in the U.S. Marine Corps with more than 30 years of service, Broderick is leaving to spend more time with his family, Chertoff said.
