Negroponte: Intell info-sharing plan due this month

The director of national intelligence also praised his office for taking other steps to improve information sharing.

The Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) will release a final plan for implementing its governmentwide Information Sharing Environment (ISE) this month, the director said today.

Thomas McNamara, ISE program manager, has been developing the plan for ODNI, which oversees the program, said John Negroponte, director of national intelligence.

Negroponte spoke at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s National Security Business Forum in Washington, D.C.

ODNI has made other important steps toward improving governmentwide information sharing, he said, including appointing Dale Meyerrose associate director of national intelligence and chief information officer.

Meyerrose is already breaking down barriers to information sharing and is beginning to address procurement standards for information technology, Negroponte said.

Having the Senate confirm ODNI’s CIO as a senior staff member is a “major plus for the intelligence community,” Negroponte said.
