John Barrass has full responsibility for STG’s performance in business development, operations and infrastructure, the company said.

STG, a provider of information technology, technical security, engineering and scientific services, announced today that John Barrass has been promoted to chief operating officer.

As COO, Barrass has full responsibility for STG’s performance in business development, operations and infrastructure, in addition to the development and implementation of plans to achieve overall corporate goals, a company statement reads.

Barrass, who has been at STG since 2003, has 25 years of government and industry experience.

Before joining STG, he was vice president of operations at Alphatech, where he directed all aspects of corporate operations, nearly doubling the company’s size in 18 months. Barrass was senior vice president at NCI Information Systems, where he directed complex programs in support of Defense Department and intelligence agencies. At Computer Sciences Corp., Barrass directed management, marketing, technical guidance and configuration control for several DOD programs.

“Since joining STG, Mr. Barrass has time and again demonstrated the superior organizational and leadership skills that are necessary to propel us to the next level as a company,” said Simon Lee, president and chief executive officer of STG. “He is the ideal candidate with the right skill set and experience to solidify our place among the upper echelon of government contractors.”

“My hands-on experience with STG and the government arena will ensure a smooth transition and facilitate our evolution to a leading performance-based solutions provider,” Barrass said.

Barrass has a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Florida and a master’s degree from Golden Gate University.
